Project Overview

Spatial and temporal control of gene activity enables scientists to ask and answer questions about genes that function in multiple tissues and across different developmental stages. Cre driver mice Many genes either exhibit complex expression patterns that encompass multiple cell types or tissues and many different developmental stages. Other genes cause embryonic death when mutated making study of these genes in adult mice difficult. To dissect the function of these types of genes, it is necessary to turn genes on or off in only the cell type, tissue, or developmental stage under study. This is done using what are now known as conditional alleles. Our NorCOMM2LS project will develop a set of Cre driver mouse lines for the study of loxP conditional alleles. Read more…
